Nestled near downtown, this reimagined ranch blends creativity and calm. A full renovation and rear addition opened the home to light, flow, and connection. Designed for a steel erector by day and musician by night, the space balances structure with soul—smoke-stained ash, walnut, and slate forming a refined palette. The new gabled addition links a sunken living room to a screened porch with retractable panels, dissolving boundaries between indoors and out. Cloaked in deep caviar tones and warm wood, the home takes on the quiet poise of a black bird at rest—grounded by concrete plinths and nestled softly into its garden setting.

Built like a song, where every beam hums home.

Nisha Mary Prasad, AIA

Hi! I’m Nisha Mary Prasad. I’m a registered architect in North Carolina and New York, and I’m passionate about creating spaces that feel as good as they look. My work spans architecture, interior design, and urban design—bringing together beauty, function, and a sense of ease.

I like to design spaces that smile back—warm, welcoming environments with a clear point of view and a sense of character.

For the past 15 years, I’ve also taught part-time at architecture and interior design universities and will serve as President of the AIA Winston-Salem Chapter in 2026—continuing my commitment to building community and supporting professional growth.

With more than sixteen years of experience across New York City, Miami, and Winston-Salem, my work includes soulful homes, thoughtful additions, and a range of commercial environments—from workplaces to hospitality and retail. No matter the project, I always begin by listening. By taking the time to understand each client’s goals, I’m able to shape spaces that feel distinctly their own—modern or timeless, refined or relaxed, but always deeply personal and thoughtfully lived-in.
