An airy addition expands this mid-century modern home for a growing family, balancing nostalgia with new light and energy. A slender,
low-slung connector links the original structure to a shed-form volume that treads softly on its context while playfully contrasting it through material and form.

The original pink-and-white palette carries inward through the tile, infusing the interiors with warmth and a touch of Palm Springs ease. Brutalist details—concrete planters, corbeled brick, and sculpted shadows—lend depth and quiet drama. The L-shaped plan frames a private courtyard, where flexible spaces for living, play, and rest open fully to light and landscape.

Pink echoes of the past rise into new light, where shadows sculpt a home made for growing

Nisha Mary Prasad, AIA

Hi! I’m Nisha Mary Prasad. I’m a registered architect in North Carolina and New York, and I’m passionate about creating spaces that feel as good as they look. My work spans architecture, interior design, and urban design—bringing together beauty, function, and a sense of ease.

I like to design spaces that smile back—warm, welcoming environments with a clear point of view and a sense of character.

For the past 15 years, I’ve also taught part-time at architecture and interior design universities and will serve as President of the AIA Winston-Salem Chapter in 2026—continuing my commitment to building community and supporting professional growth.

With more than sixteen years of experience across New York City, Miami, and Winston-Salem, my work includes soulful homes, thoughtful additions, and a range of commercial environments—from workplaces to hospitality and retail. No matter the project, I always begin by listening. By taking the time to understand each client’s goals, I’m able to shape spaces that feel distinctly their own—modern or timeless, refined or relaxed, but always deeply personal and thoughtfully lived-in.
